"Cannot open the specified file" in excel

In my spreadsheet there are records that I hyperlinked to .pdf files.
When I click on the record now, I get the message "Cannot open specified file."  I am having to go back in and do the hyperlink again.  I notice the paths are different on the records
that have the hyperlink then on the ones that do not.
(This is the address:  \AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\PDF\)  Any help in understanding what has happened is greatly appreciated.
